Changes to PGWP eligibility criteria

Starting November 1, 2024, if you apply for a study permit, you must meet new requirements for eligibility for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP):

1. For university graduates (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral):

   • Language: Minimum CLB 7 (English) or NCLC 7 (French) in all four areas.

   • Field of Study: All fields are eligible.

2. For other university graduates:

   • Language: Minimum CLB 7 (English) or NCLC 7 (French) in all four areas.

   • Field of Study: Must be in an eligible field.

3. For college or other programs:

   • Language: Minimum CLB 5 (English) or NCLC 5 (French) in all four areas.

   • Field of Study: Must be in an eligible field, which includes:

     • Agriculture and agri-food
     • Healthcare
     • STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
     • Trade

     • Transport

There are 996 programs eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
