Recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Rounds in Ontario, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island
Published on: July 20, 2023
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) plays a crucial role in Canada's immigration system, allowing provinces to actively select economic immigrants who can address labor market needs and integrate well into the local economy. Candidates nominated by a province have a higher chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence, and Express Entry candidates who are nominated receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an ITA.
Here are the highlights of the recent PNP rounds in Ontario, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island:
Ontario:
- Held two draws on July 20 under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream.
- Invited 902 candidates in tech occupations and 159 healthcare professionals.
- Required CRS scores ranged from 458 to 462.
British Columbia:
- Conducted its usual Tuesday PNP draw on July 18.
- Invited over 167 candidates in four draws, including Skilled Workers, International Graduates, and Express Entry candidates.
- Targeted 112 candidates with tech occupations, requiring a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 88.
- Other draws included early childhood educators, healthcare professionals, and other priority occupation candidates, with a minimum SIRS score of 60.
Prince Edward Island (PEI):
- On July 20, PEI invited 106 candidates in the first PNP draw of the month.
- Invitations were split between candidates in the Labour and Express Entry stream and Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream.
- The Critical Worker Stream invited 97 candidates working for a PEI employer with a minimum EOI score of 50.
- The Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream invited nine candidates meeting the minimum point threshold of 80.
These provincial rounds reflect Canada's ongoing commitment to selecting skilled immigrants who will contribute to the local economy and enhance the country's workforce. If you are considering immigration to Canada, understanding the opportunities provided by the PNP can greatly benefit your application process.
